Please find below Frequently Asked Questions we have received from independent travel agents before joining us, if you do have any further question, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We don’t set fixed sales targets – because we know success looks different for everyone. Whether you’re building your travel business part-time around other commitments or aiming to make this your full-time income, the pace is yours to set.
What we do encourage is goal setting that feels aligned with your lifestyle, vision, and ambitions. We’ll support you to identify what success means to you — and help you create a plan to get there, step by step.
We believe in progress over perfection, consistency over pressure, and building a business that’s sustainable for the long term. Our community, training, and coaching resources are here to help you grow in a way that fits your own version of success.
No, we don’t tie you into lengthy contracts. If your circumstances change, you can cancel your membership with 30 days’ notice.
However, if you have active bookings with outstanding balances, you’ll need to remain a member until those bookings are fully paid for — this ensures your clients remain protected and everything runs smoothly through to travel.
You have the flexibility to work from home and manage your schedule around another job, business, or other commitments — including evenings and weekends.
That said, we do expect a certain level of commitment from our agents. While this is your business to build at your own pace, it’s important to show up consistently, take responsibility, and stay connected. This means regularly checking in, staying up to date with our weekly updates, and being proactive in making the most of the support and resources available to you.
Yes, you can operate your own branded business while enjoying the support, licenses, and supplier contracts of the Janine Loves Travel Community.
No, there’s no need for a merchant account. All client funds are managed securely through the PTS Trust account, so you don’t have to handle payments directly.
Commissions are paid early — before the date of travel — as soon as your suppliers pay in full.
We offer a competitive 80/20 commission split, which is industry-leading.
Yes, you have access to both NET rates and commissionable rates, giving you the power to competitively price your packages.

Support is offered in lots of ways, including:
Not at all! Many of our most successful agents had no prior experience in the travel industry. We provide full training, resources, and ongoing support to help you learn everything you need — from how to quote and book holidays to building your brand and gaining client trust.
Yes — and many agents start this way! Your friends, family, and wider network can be a brilliant foundation as you build your business and gain confidence. Plus, our support and systems make it easy to grow beyond that too.
Definitely. We encourage agents to find their passion and carve out a niche if they choose to. We offer training, niche groups, and marketing ideas tailored to areas like Disney, cruise, weddings, honeymoons, solo travel, and more.
Yes — you can book for clients based anywhere in the world. You’re not limited to UK residents, so whether your client is based in Europe, the US, Australia, or elsewhere, you’re able to support and manage their travel plans through our systems.
Yes — as an independent travel agent, you are your client’s main point of contact from the moment they enquire to the moment they return home. That means you’re responsible for ensuring they feel supported throughout their entire journey — including if anything doesn’t go quite to plan.
Part of being a great agent is taking care of those little extras… and sometimes that includes stepping in to help mediate or resolve any issues that come up — whether that’s chasing a supplier, liaising with hotel staff, or supporting your client if they experience a delay or problem overseas.
Absolutely! We offer weekly interactive Zoom trainings, including supplier and destination training, co-working sessions, niche training, and social media training. You can also book in a 1-1 if extra support is needed with our systems or processes.
The training is fully self-paced and designed to fit around your lifestyle. You’ll work through a series of pre-recorded video modules, each with tasks and activities to help you put your learning into action.
You’ll also be supported by our dedicated onboarding specialist, who’s there to guide you and keep you on track throughout.
While everyone’s pace is different, we usually say around 3 weeks is a good minimum timeframe to complete the training and feel confident getting started.
No need to rush into registering as self-employed. Legally in the UK, you only need to register with HMRC once your income exceeds £1,000 in a tax year. We also offer workshops on setting up your business.
All of our agents are covered under the JLT Group’s insurance policy, which includes Professional Indemnity, Public Liability, and Employers’ Liability Insurance.
There is also the option to take out additional cover for Errors and Omissions (E&O) – this is something we can help arrange through our insurance provider. E&O insurance offers an extra layer of protection in case you make a personal mistake that results in a financial impact on the business.
Not every agent chooses to take this out – it’s completely optional and depends on whether you feel it’s necessary for your peace of mind.
Yes! We’ve launched our very own bespoke reservations system that allows you to book with our main suppliers through one easy-to-use portal, with live availability.
It also includes:
It’s designed to make quoting and booking as smooth and professional as possible — all in one place.

Supplier Failure Insurance provides protection if a tour operator, airline, or hotel faces financial failure or insolvency.
Scheduled Airline Failure Insurance safeguards clients’ financial interests if an airline becomes insolvent or ceases trading.
We totally understand that life can get busy or unpredictable. That’s why we allow you to take a 30-day membership freeze if needed during — giving you a pause without losing your place in the community.
No, you definitely don’t need to do this straight away. Your niche, your brand image, your messaging — these are all things to develop over time, not rush.
We actually recommend holding off on building a website until you’re 100% sure on your direction and how you want to show up online.
It really varies from person to person. Some agents start earning straight away by tapping into their existing network, while others take a little more time to build their client base and confidence.
The great news is, the role is flexible – you can grow at your own pace.
And because we pay commission as soon as your clients have paid in full (rather than waiting until they travel), you’ve got the potential to make your investment back quickly – even from just a handful of bookings in the early stages.
With consistency, support, and the right tools, we’ve seen many agents gain momentum much faster than they expected.
You’re in control of your margins – meaning you decide your gross selling price. How much you earn depends on the margin you set, the value of your bookings, how often you book, and the type of travel you specialise in.
Agents regularly earn anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand pounds per month.
